WordPress LEMP Setup Guide on an Ubuntu VDS 2026

For agencies and site owners, WordPress on an Ubuntu VDS is the natural next step after shared hosting: root access, NVMe I/O and Turkey ping. This guide is a summary of LEMP (Nginx + PHP-FPM + MariaDB).

Short answer: Single site / medium traffic → TR-S or TR-M. WooCommerce → TR-M+. OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

The LEMP stack

  • Nginx reverse proxy + PHP-FPM 8.3
  • MariaDB/MySQL with a separate user + backups
  • Let's Encrypt SSL
  • Redis object cache (recommended on TR-M+)

Ordering and initial setup

  1. Rent an Ubuntu VDS → choose a plan → Ubuntu 24.04
  2. SSH hardening + UFW 22/80/443
  3. Nginx/PHP/MariaDB packages, site vhost
  4. Download WordPress, wp-config, HTTPS
