Docker Compose Setup Guide on an Ubuntu VDS 2026

Ubuntu VDS + Docker is the most common production pattern for microservices, reverse proxies and self-hosted applications. In this guide we cover installing Docker CE / Compose on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, the basic security steps and choosing a SistemDC plan.

Short answer: For a single container TR-S may be enough; for Compose (multiple services), at least TR-M (4 vCPU / 8 GB) is recommended. When ordering, choose Ubuntu 24.04 LTS .

Why Ubuntu VDS + Docker?

  • Most of the official Docker documentation is written for Ubuntu
  • installing an up-to-date Docker CE with apt is easy
  • a repeatable environment with cloud-init / scripts

Setup (summary)
